Other highlights include Loyola, the birthplace of St. Ignatius; Javier, home of St. Francis Xavier, a great Jesuit missionary; Zaragoza, where Our Lady is said to have appeared to St. James before her Assumption into heaven; Avila, where St. Teresa of Avila first became a nun and later a prioress; Segovia, which holds the remains of St. John of the Cross; Salamanca, an ancient university town of Spain; and Fatima, where Our Lady of the Rosary appeared to three shepherd children.
